Simple...But Hard

So, I set up my Google Desktop the other day, which has all kinds of awesome applications that you can add.  I get inspiration from quotes, so I added the Quote of the Day application.  So far, so inspirational :).  Well, today is posted a quote from Arnold H. Glasow: "Succes is simple.  Do what's right, the right way, at the right time."  Very true.  Succes is very simple.  But....it's not easy.  Right now, I am doing very well in school...seeing as today is my first day..ha ha.  (But, hey, I did very well in orientation, and I plan on keeping it up!)  However, what would you guess is my downfall to academic success?  Time management!  Such a difficult concept for us college-age students.  It's hard with all those social networking sites out there, YouTube, Instant Messenger...and it's even worse if you go to school online.  Hey, you're right there with your buddy, Internet Explorer.  With the click of a button (or two), you can see who just posted a new picture (is that so and so? She got a new haircut!  Lemme look at these photos...), find out that Oprah Winfrey just tweeted about her next segment on her ever popular talk show (oh. em. gee.  Oprah will be featuring a segment about Justin Beiber???  Lemme check out her website, maybe they have topless pics of him!!-- not that I like Justin Beiber...ick-sorry crazed, rabid fans!), or check your e-mail (wowww...a sale at Forever21??  I have to check out those purple heels I saw at the store the other day!)....I think you get my drift.  Us young'uns get so distracted by all of the STUFF out there, that we lose track of what really needs to be done.  This is my biggest problem.  And I am trying so badly to work on it...thank goodness today is my first day of class, and I already have this week's homework done, so I am able to do some blogging...hey, I have a valid excuse, people!  But, anyways, I am very glad to say that time management is one of the topics in my current class, Introduction to University Studies, so that I can hone on my time efficiency skills...oh,wait, what is that?  No, but really, thank you University of Phoenix for providing me with some extra help.  Now, I think I have some meal planning to do...or notes to take for class...hmmmm....

The Gist

What led me to starting my own blog?  It's a long story.  And I will share that with you over time.  But for now...
This last year and a half have been a time of learning, growing, and becoming for me.  A season of major change.  I went from being a carefree, secure girl, engaged to the love of her life, to an uptight, stressed out young woman struggling to balance new motherhood and a serious breakup, to a responsible, mature, loving, nurturing mother with a love for Jesus that she shares with her son.  A few months ago, I could hardly survive, and now I thrive.  The past six months has been some of the most torturous, excruiciating, heart-wrenching  seasons that I think any young lady could go through.  I am proud to say that I am now a wonderful mother to an even more wonderful baby, and I balance a full-time job at Nature's Food Market in Berlin, and full-time online schooling through University of Phoenix.  I never would have thought that would be me.  But I now know that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
